The lingering smell of someone’s dying permeated the air

But I, too intent of my desire to give my full attention to my wife

Giving her comfort during her final hours

Numb inside from the pain of seeing her suffer from a debilitating sickness

Feeling helpless and being strong for her

I know how tired she was

But she’s one strong woman

Fighting for our love

Against my own will

Making things Simplify for her

Holding her hand

I murmured, “Go, my love. Rest now. I will be okay.”

As if waiting for those words

She gave me that amazing smile I fell in love with

And took one last breath and close her eyes

No more pain my love…
