Of all the days of the week, Monday used to be my favorite. The first day of the week always gives me a sense of anticipation. I get excited when I think of what the succeeding days will offer and be like.
All that change when my mom finally stayed with us. Because of her Alzheimer disease, I need to be extra patient with her. That includes her bugging me always to go home.
Fortunately, she finally accepted the fact that she’ll be staying with us though she still expresses her desire to go home once in a while. So every Saturday we had to go home to our hometown.
Friday is now my favorite day of the week. It gives me a sense of satisfaction that I survived another week with my mom. It also means having a time for myself as my sister will take over for the weekend.
So here’s to a great weekend! ❤️

Winnie I sincerely appreciate what you do for your mother. We recently had a death in our family and this particular person’s daughter could have kept her mother at home, or had sitters stay with her mother. Instead she had her mother shipped off to a nursing home. And then it was a mad dash by the family to get what they wanted out of her mother’s house when she left…. I fully support and encourage you!

Oh, my! That’s cruel! I can’t imagine shipping off my mom to a nursing as I’m sure the staff will not really take good care of her. Only a loved one will. Besides, it’s frown upon in our country. It was instilled in us to take care of our elders. I have prayed I will be given a chance to take care of my mom no matter what and here it is. Thank you again!

I love Fridays too, more relaxed feelings. Its great that you get to take care of your mom, though its difficult to be taking care of some one with Alzheimer. Enjoy your weekend!

Looking after someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s is so difficult l did the same for my mum and often beat myself up as l felt guilty for not doing enough …. She died in 2015 and the guilt got worst and eventually with the help God My Father provides l can say l can talk about it and deal with the pain of her not even recognising me in the end. I was lucky having been working in finance and then care so l could organise everything she needed ….. I 🙏 you gain strength which comes from the weakness you sometimes feel and always remember your doing a great job and without you welll where would she be …. God Bless Ian

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I really appreciate your words of encouragement. It is so hard when no one understands my situation. Talking about it who had the same experience gives me strength. It also gives me ideas on what to expect. Sorry for your loss.

Aw, the “wanna go home” stages are tough, they change over time, and you two will adjust with each one as they come. Your mom is lucky to have her family there to help her through the stages. Hugs to you – enjoy your weekend!

You “survived” another week with your mom? 😦
If you ‘feel’ your mom is a burden to you, she could sense that and not want to stay with you.
Just a passing thought……hugz to you

Oh no, dear Ren. I do not consider her a burden. I have been patient but firm with her and tell her everyday how much we love her. Maybe survived is a wrong word. 😉
So wonderful for you to drop by, Ren. How are you?
Hugs too!

I should have known…..forgive, please. 😀 I understand what you mean by survive.
I have become so mindful of words lately. I feel it is so very important to choose wise words or choose words wisely.
I am doing great! Thanx for asking. That bird is back, sings only by day right now, if it’s the same kind. So loud and such a long song. I will learn its name and let ya know.
Take care…..

It’s okay, dear Ren! I appreciate your insights always. Don’t think otherwise. 😉
I’m glad you’re doing great. When I hear the birds here singing you are always on my mind. I hope you can also identify the bird I shared on one of my posts. Thank you for dropping by again. Take care and hugs. ❤️
