The night was far from over

long after the embers died down

bereft of the pulsating moment

reality sets in

Embracing what was left

taking it all in

savoring every moment

while it last

Tiredness crept

weary even my bones

too tired to get up

ending sprawled at the edge

Spiraling toward an abyss

too tired to move

letting it consume me

finally surrendering

Last night, as I was about to gather my thoughts for the draft of my writing about our vacation, a group of words kept me occupied. Voila! A poem came to fruition instead of my writing about the vacation. The photos of our vacation are ready but I’m still gathering facts about the places we’ve been.
