Hi everyone! I hope you survived another week and hoping it was a great one. Sending my love to all of you. ๐คโค๏ธ
I was selected by Jenna from The Sunshine Artist for the Fun Friday Flashbook: Favorite Books From Childhood. This is another exciting flashback from her! I want to thank her for her thoughtfulness.ย
ABOUT THE TAG
Every Friday, Jenna will post a questionnaire, photos, quotes and/or a poem on a specific โtopicโ taking us back in time and nominate 3 bloggers, who in turn will post about that SAME topic (with their own unique spin) and nominate 3 bloggers of their own, spreading the โFun Friday Flashbackโย and send them traveling through time and space.
Itโs all about taking fun trips down memory lane and choosing the best way possible to travel back in time. Todayโs travel through time will take you back to memorable books from childhood that will always hold a special place in your heart.
When it comes to reading, I was a late bloomer. I used to read only books about fairy tales which have colorful illustrations. Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales was one of my favorites.
I was also fascinated with my countryโs folklore, myths and legends. Supernatural things fascinated me.
Growing up, I was mesmerized by the Nancy Drew mystery series. It gave me a reason to drop by a rent-a-book shop. Since I canโt afford to buy the Nancy Drew series, the shop was a Godsend.ย
Hereโs one of the Nancy Drew book I bought for my daughter. Fortunately, she caught my reading bug earlier.

I love it, thank you, Winnie, for sharing! I too have always loved books with a mystical vibe, mysteries, folklore, and mythology. Hans Christian Andersenโs fairy tales was something my mom would read to us kids before bed (usually she would fall asleep and I would continue reading until my siblings were asleep). ๐ Thank you for sharing some of your childhood favorites! ๐ I hope you’re having a wonderful day!

Youโre welcome, Jenna! Iโm glad you and I share the same interest. ๐คโค๏ธ
Youโre lucky your mom read to you. We were not given that privilege though my parents made sure we were surrounded by books. Some of those hand .me downs from cousins.
All is well with me so far. My momโs with me now. It was my reason for my late post and for neglecting my blog. ๐

I’m glad all is well so far. I hope your time with your mom is good and that she is having a good day with her health.
I love your quote “books are a uniquely portable magic!” Books are wonderful portals into a new world, a differet time, a new dimenion.
Growing up I was blessed that my mom also had such a passion for reading and books and that she encouraged us to do the same. We made weekly trips to the library and I would always take out the max amount alloted. I remember at one point when I was about 5 or 6 we lived about .5 mile from the library and we would walk down when the weather was nice for story hour. They more I wa exposed to books the more I craved them. ๐

This morning I had a hard time with her since she wanted to go home. Fortunately, she calmed down the remainder of the day. I hope tomorrow sheโll not ask me again.
Yes, I also loved that quote. I truly agree with you. Unfortunately, I havenโt had the time to read lately.
That was a very nice memory. Thank you for sharing it. โค๏ธ๐๐น

I hope that rest of your time with your mom is calm for both of you. ๐ค
I understand, recently I’ve been doing more audio books that I can listen to while doing laundry or dishes…it’s a pleasant way to make some the tedious
Tasks of each day more fun.๐ Granted it’s a the same as sittings down to read a good book, but I’ve found it has helped.

Nancy drew books were my favorites. I think I actually read all of them growing up. If you know much about Nancy Drew books that is no small feat.

Anderson’s fairy tale used to be one of my favourites
‘
But I liked Nancy drew along with Hardy boys by F.W.Dixon more than any other.
Those were the best times.
